VO's Madama Butterfly is a gorgeous and fresh take on Puccini’s classic opera. Featuring breath-taking designs of Japanese-born visual artist Jun Kaneko, this production premiered at Opera Omaha in 2006 to rave reviews.
London’s Opera magazine called it “… a mixture of old traditions and modern aesthetic that was visually daring while remaining true to the essence of the music and drama. Kaneko has a perceptive eye for theatrical and dramatic effect… A splendidly integrated work of art.”
