Order of Canada for Martha Lou Henley

Earlier this year, we congratulated longtime Vancouver philanthropist Martha Lou Henley on her appointment to the Order of Canada. Here's some more news on that front: Ms. Henley will officially receive the honour on Friday!

David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will preside over an Order of Canada investiture ceremony this Friday at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. 29 members and 14 officers will receive the award. Here's the full list of recipients.

Ms. Henley (or "Louie", as we know her) has been instrumental to the creation of several VO productions, including Lillian Alling, our Nixon in China, and our Golden Anniversary Concert + Gala. She has volunteered tirelessly to support to VO and several other organizations, including the Vancouver Recital Society, Vancouver's choral community, Music Fest Vancouver, Music in the Morning, Callanish Healing Retreats and dozens more.

On behalf of the arts community of Vancouver - and Canada - we thank Louie for her generous gifts and congratulate her on this extremely well-deserved honour.
