I was watching the two part episode of Star Trek DS9 entitled "Past Tense Part 1 & 2" and I looked up an older post I made about those episodes which you can read HERE. Not very much has changed in the USA since I made that post and the economy and living conditions seem to be heading in the direction described in that 2 part episode. As well, I looked up my posts on the Stargate Atlantis episode "The Real World" which you can read HERE. There has been no recovery or improvement in housing and in fact people are still losing homes, facing rising food prices, and ending on the streets begging, of course this is not reported in the news, I just hear this from people who live in Southern California since I myself do not live there, however, I have heard this from a wide range of people so I believe it to be true.
Science fiction can be fun to watch or read, but it can also be a way to make people aware that bad things can and do happen and the best thing is to be aware and not turn a blind eye to what is going on around you, try to be prepared, and do what you can to solve problems in your corner of the world.
