In The Eagle, Channing Tatum stars as a young Roman centurion, 'Marcus Aquila', in 2nd century AD Britain on a quest to discover the truth about the disappearance of his father's legion, the Ninth, twenty years previously.

This 2011 movie is based on the 1954 historical adventure novel by Rosemary Sutcliff, The Eagle of the Ninth, which is itself based on the legend of the Legio IX Hispana (Ninth Spanish Legion) which is alleged to have disappeared in Britain around AD 117.

This eagle standard prop is what the movie is named after and is what Marcus Aquila travels beyond Hadrian's Wall and into Caledonia (Scotland) to recover, to restore his family's honour.
Original weapon props featured in The Eagle movie
This selection of weaponry was featured in the movie and was photographed on display at ArcLight Sherman Oaks cinema on February 7, 2011. The metal swords and shields are used by Roman centurions and bone clubs and knives by Scottish Pictish tribesmen.
