Local Love: Devil's Millhopper Geolocial State Park in Gainesville

Okay, so it was totally my idea to go check out Devil's Millhopper while we were in Gainesville. My thinking was that it would be awesome to hike down into a 120 foot deep sink hole. . . the whole "I'm terrified of heights" thing never occurred to me, you know, cause we were going to be going down, not up. . . but on step number 5 out of 200 or so panic followed by vertigo set in. So, while I made it to the bottom, the photos I took majorly suck and don't at all capture the beauty of this place.

note" this is not what I had originally planned to share as the "local love" post, but the website for the restaurant that I wanted to share was down.

Local Love: Muddy Waters in Deerfield Beach

Anywhere else a pirate themed bar would be considered low rent, but this isn't anywhere else. . . this is South Florida baby! And we don't joke about pirates.

Seriously though, don't let J Byrd's Muddy Waters' decor fool you into thinking you are at some tacky bar with cheap beer and crappy food. A few miles from the beach this is where the locals go to get away from the tourists (though they've been around so long that they're no longer a real "local secret").

I've never eaten anything there that I didn't enjoy, the seafood is some of the freshest around (that says a lot seeing that it's South Florida that we're talking about), and their 48oz Partritas. . . let's just say there may have been a time or two in my younger days that I woke up on the beach and didn't remember how I got there. . .

My personal Muddy Waters favorites are the Ruby's Peck Escargot and the Trio of Mudd's Own Fish Tacos. . . YUM!

I borrowed the photos from their website. I tried to take my own, but after two Nutty Monkeys they came out like this -

2011 Intentions

I've tried the New Year resolution thing publicly for the past few years. . . and I've totally failed at it. So this year there will be no actual resolutions, just intentions. . . As in, this year I intend to post more about all the places and things I love locally (heck, I've even whipped up a little "local love" graphic to go along with those posts) -

I also intend to post more about changes going on in my house (that's really where this blog started, so I would like to get back to that a little). . .

And I intend on have fun. . . lots and lots of fun!

So there you have it folks, those are my Intentions for 2011!
