It's Emmett & Elsie in mug form!! I picked these babies up on clearance at Home Goods. They're so cute I refuse to make them live in the cupboard.

Emmett & Elsie took turns trying to get me out of bed on Sunday morning.

I have a strict no-getting-out-of-bed-until-after-8 rule on Sundays, but with the sun up at 6:30 it's getting harder and harder to convince Emmett & Elsie that it isn't time to get up yet.

Emmett and I spent the weekend housesitting for my parents. Emmett loves loves loves going on car rides (as you can tell from the silly chihuahua smile above), he also loves chasing my mother's cats, so all and all he had a great weekend.

Emmett does one of two things when I try to take a picture of him: A. refuse to stay still or B. freeze with his head to the side - in this case he choose to go with option B.

P.S. I wish I could say that my dining room isn't normally such a mess, but it has been my dumping ground for the past 6 months or so. . .

Emmett: Chihuahua Around Campus

Emmett is the best dog in the whole wide world (I may be a bit biased), but he isn't always the most well behaved. . . At home he barks and growls at anyone and everyone who gets within 10 feet of the house, he does the same at my mother's house. . . and he likes to leave his mark (if ya know what I mean) at every check out counter he meets, which is why I no longer take him with me to the pet store.

So I was completely surprised on how well behaved he was while we were out of town. He didn't bark in the hotel, not even when the annoyingly yappie little dog in the room next store would start (seriously, that dog barked at everything) and when we went to see my little sister's dorm room and have a tour of the campus he was an angel.

Here he is with my little sister under the "French Fries" sculpture and with her again in front of the stadium -

The campus tour was the longest walk he has ever been on and he encountered crazy squirrels and groups of college kids and he never once misbehaved. We come to the conclusion that his barking and growling at home and at my mother's is because he is playing guard dog there and he feels he has to protect us, while when we're someplace new and different he is too busy exploring to care about protecting us.

Emmett was a very good pumpkin last night, he helped me hand out candy to all the little trick-or-treaters that stopped by the house. . . and by "helped me", I mean he jumped around and barked like crazy everytime someone knocked on the door.

On a completely different note - lord, I hate my tile! I almost didn't post this picture because of awful tile. . . but Emmett was just so cute I couldn't help myself.

This photo was taken for the current Souvenir Foto School class and I think it may be my second favorite picture of Emmett ever. I'll share more of my photos from the class this weekend.

Fiesta Party Invites

As I mentioned in my last post - I really like party planning. So this year I'm going all out and not letting a single detail fall by the wayside. Being that the first thing your guests see is the party invitation, that's where we'll start.

This is an edited version of the invitation I sent out to my guests -

I wanted something simple, casual, and most importantly FUN. How can you beat a chihuahua with promises of tacos and margaritas for all. . . crap, I just noticed that I misspelled margaritas. . . okay, so maybe I shouldn't have made these in the middle of the night and sent them out without proofing them. . . guess I can say that Emmett made them. . .

Thunder Is Not My Friend

We've been having some nasty weather lately - basically it's summer in south Florida, but both Emmett and Elsie have been making me nuts. Every time there is the slightest bit of thunder I have both of them trying to climb up my leg. This is going to be a looooooooooooong summer.

Emmett was such a good travel buddy - the trip took 13 hours up and 14 hours back thanks to traffic and Emmett slept most of the time.

Your Weekly Emmett Fix

I've been going on and on about Elsie lately, but not to worry, Emmett is still the king of Casa De Laurendy. While he may not be too happy about having to share his space with Elsie, I have been careful to give him plenty of extra attention, and I've also done my best to keep Elsie out of my bedroom so that Emmett still feels like he has one space all his own.
