I Couldn't Help Myself

It's Emmett & Elsie in mug form!! I picked these babies up on clearance at Home Goods. They're so cute I refuse to make them live in the cupboard.

Yeah, I have a problem. . .

Your Emmett & Elsie Fix

Emmett & Elsie took turns trying to get me out of bed on Sunday morning.

I have a strict no-getting-out-of-bed-until-after-8 rule on Sundays, but with the sun up at 6:30 it's getting harder and harder to convince Emmett & Elsie that it isn't time to get up yet.

Damage Done

I know yesterday I post this picture of Elsie, looking all cute and sweet and innocent,
cuddling oh so peacefully on my quilt. . . But don't let that photo fool you, there is nothing innocent about that little cat.

Don't believe me? Here's the proof -

This picture really doesn't due justice to the amount of damage Elsie has caused my sofa, but the following picture of my Ottoman gives you some idea. . .

Seriously, that cat is driving me crazy, but for some strange reason I still love her, non stop meowing and all.

Your Elsie Fix

Yeah, that's right. . . I said Elsie, not Emmett.

The kitty needs attention too.

Two Years of Meows

Two years ago today an annoying little cat followed Emmet and I home from a walk and never left.
After a year of living the life as the #1 bird killer in the neighborhood, Elsie decided it was time to make the move inside and went off to get herself seriously injured so we would have no choice but to turn into a full time indoor kitty.

She makes me sneeze, she ruins my furniture, she doesn't let me get any sleep, and she occasionally breaks things . . . but I love her all the same.

I'm Still Here

Okay, I'm having a bit of bloggers block. . . while I want to blog and have topics I want to (and plan to) blog about, when I actually sit down to write a post my mind just goes blank. So please be patient with me for a little bit while I try to work myself out of this funk.

I'll leave you with this picture of Elsie in her new favorite spot, in the over-sized blue Ikea bag hanging off the back of a chair -

(excuse the bad red-eye fix, but I couldn't post a picture of Elsie looking like a demon cat)

Anyone Want A Cat?

This is what Elsie did last night -

There were tears. . . lots and lots of tears. . . and there was swearing. . . lots and lots of swearing. . . and there was threatening of sending her back outside. . . and then she curled up on my lap and said "moow" (yes, Elsie meows like Sponge Bob's snail Gary). . .

Thunder Is Not My Friend

We've been having some nasty weather lately - basically it's summer in south Florida, but both Emmett and Elsie have been making me nuts. Every time there is the slightest bit of thunder I have both of them trying to climb up my leg. This is going to be a looooooooooooong summer.

Elsie Update

Elsie came home Thursday night - it was sort of shocking, I was out with Emmett and then all of a sudden, there's Elsie sitting on the patio. You could tell it had been a rough few days for her, she looked thinner and had a pretty bad limp. She didn't have any cuts and she let us touch her injured leg without any sort of pained reaction, so I decided not to drag her to the emergency pet clinic and instead wait until morning for Emmett's vet to open up - I trust him completely when it comes my pets.

Unfortunately it turned out that Miss Elsie had broken her leg and would require surgery. They do surgeries on Tuesdays. So that meant we had to keep her inside (against her will I might add) and away from Emmett (again, against her will). So our one and only bathroom became Elsie Land.

Have I ever mentioned that Elsie likes to meow, I mean really really really likes to meow - and that's when she has the whole outdoors to roam. When she is couped up in the house she turns meowing into an Olympic sport. So we have Elsie on one side of the bathroom door meowing that she wants her freedom and when have Emmett on the other side of the door whimpering and crying for his Elsie to have her freedom - and then we have one crazy pet owner in her bed with a pillow over her head begging for her freedom.

Yeah, so that was the weekend. I dropped Elsie off for her surgery this morning and the vet called and said it went well, and I can most likely pick her up tomorrow. We are debating the pros and cons of keeping Elsie inside from now on. I started taking Zyrtec and it seems to be working, but we still have to deal with her claws and dislike of being stuck inside.

Elsie is home! She is hurt - but home. Will be taking her to the vet first thing in the morning.

break in programming

Elsie is missing. We last saw her Sunday morning. She has never gone missing, she has never missed a meal, and she has never not come running when I whistled for her. Worst of all, I don't hear her bell anywhere (she wears a bell on her collar as a warning for the birds), normally I can hear her bell tinkling from a good half a block away, and I haven't heard it since Sunday morning.

This is different than when Gray vanished for a bit - Gray comes and goes as he pleases. Elsie stays put. A day hasn't gone by since she followed me home last December that she hasn't been waiting for me on the doorstep when I get up in the morning.

I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I just want my cat to come home.

Oh, I Can't Stay Mad

How can I stay mad at a kitty that naps in a flower pot. . . I just can't.

I will, however, add that this so explains why half my potted plants up and died on me.

Sofa Update (aka: Gosh Darn It Elsie!!)

Elsie is an outdoor cat, but she generally comes in the house a few times a day to hang out. So I didn't think anything of it this morning when she followed Emmett and I in after his morning walk. She followed me around the kitchen and I got her breakfast ready, but instead of following me out the side door (I feed her and Gray Boy in the carport) she made a shot for my sofa. Before I could grab her she dug her claws into the front of the right arm. . . It now has about 5 punctures in the leather. . . I cried a little, okay, maybe a lot. . . now I am searching for leather repair kits online.

If anyone knows of a good one, please share. . . Oh, and it anyone wants a cat, let me now as well.
