Things that Go

A rather usual sort of day..... subway downtown.

A walk in the new park at the end of 23rd Street

and a visit to the Museum of the American Indian in the former custom house at One Bowling Green which used to be a custom house. Here a mural makes the Hudson look much busier than it does today.

Keeping Busy

These men have escaped from one of Robert's paintings.
(cut out paper propped on the window )

This wire man walks round a shelf near the ceiling.
He once had an umbrella drink.

This singer plays funky blues every day.
Corner of 23rd St and 7th Avenue.

The snacks from the independent film aren't so good
as the ones provided by Law and Order. Oh, well.

In the Meatpacking District men with a message.

It's graduation season.

Daryl Fashionista visits the High Line and poses in
front of the amazing stained glass.

Street Philosophy

Went to East 9th Street yesterday in search of spiritual guidance.
Also found the Eileen Fisher shop.
The east side has much more graffiti than the west.

Elizabeth Bunsen would love it. Come to New York, Eb!

Much to see on Second Avenue for someone who rarely leaves the west side.........

A few light snowflakes. Smell of  freshly ground coffee. Lunch at the Ukranian diner.
A dream indeed.

Shadow Shot Sunday/Abstract and a Face

Shadows and Reflections for Hey Harriet's splendid Shadow Shot Sunday. Go here for more participants.
Shadow Shots tend to be a bit abstracty. Here the Viceroy diner on 8th Avenue and 18th Street, rather early in the morning before anyone except one waiter was there.

The red window of the same.

Huge flag as one leaves Penn Station to go to Macy's, taken on the day a black-clad swat team with machines guns out was patrolling the station. Thought of asking if I could take a photo. Decided not to...

Gray and black legs in the City Bakery. So New York uniformish. In fact, there have been some exciting red coat sightings of late.........

You can buy all sorts of things at the Green Market.......decorative cabbages.....a Cabbage Patch Kid?

Travels by Bus

Ventured uptown to have tea on 84th Street.

If you are an idle person with time on your hands, this is an ideal form of transportation.
Lots to look at. No good at all if you are in a great hurry.
We went past Lincoln Center and the newish Time Warner Building and then headed down 7th Avenue.

Such a useful traffic jam in Times Square.
Time to look about me and goggle at all the excitement.

Lots of different faces came up in the Person of the Year frame. You can probably pay to have your face there for an instant.

We lumbered past Macy's which was twinkling like mad.

And ended up just by the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park.

Such Splendid Skies

This morning in Centerport, Long Island, looking north towards Connecticut.

So  tranquil and quiet.
This afternoon from 23rd Street looking west towards New Jersey.

Such drama. A front approaching. Snow. Storm. Something. The flag should be waving on top of a castle.

Such billows with darkness above.
