Image via Wikipedia I have been watching
Eureka, a
science fiction series that is very different from most sci fi shows right now. It takes place in the
Pacific Northwest of the USA, and is a small town of scientists at the genius level. They are conducting scientific research for the US government. A lot of the experiments go wrong and thus the interesting elements and situations of the show develop. The main character of the show is not a genius but a
US Marshal Jack Carter, who accidentally finds this top secret town and soon becomes the law enforcement.
It has already aired for 2 seasons and has been picked up for a third season.
While I like most
Sci Fi shows, I just cannot get passionate about this show. It is just not my cup of tea. People I talk who like Eureka, also liked the series Dead Like Me, so Eureka seems to attract this kind of science fiction viewer. I have also watched Dead Like Me and also have the same luke warm reaction to that show.
However, that is the beauty of Science Fiction, there are different types of shows for all types of people. Some of my family members won't watch Alien, or Terminator, but they will watch Eureka or Dead Like Me.
I like the variety of the Sci Fi shows lately, and hope we keep seeing more new creative shows being written.
