One legged brain tumours

What do you call a one legged brain tumour?

Doris, Boris or Mumborg?

Mumborg

Ooops not in the best taste, but yes, the mumborg has a brain tumour (also only one leg, if you didn't know). This is not a tale I am unfamiliar with, let us go back in time.......(insert time travelling music, diddly doo diddly doo ~ erm think dream sequence noise in Wayne’s World).

1987
There once was a little girl called Claire, she was six years old and her mum had a brain tumour. The doctors removed the brain, erm I mean tumour, and the mum was all better.

Fast forward back to the present time (diddly doo diddly doo etc etc)

2010
There is a woman called Claire, who is 28 years old and her mum has a brain tumour. Okay things haven’t been that plain sailing since 1987, but I didn’t want to ruin the momentary fairytale moment. Meningioma is latest thing to be added to the list of ailments that the mumborg has. I have known for a few months now, but it was thought to be benign and not that bad as far as brain tumours go. The specialists have now decided that it may be malignant and a tad more serious.

What do you do when you get bad news?
I write, I read, I hide on my own, I think, I drink and cry alone. Okay I don’t drink, it just rhymed and I went with it, being drunk would just make me feel worse. The thing that comes last on my list of ‘What I do’ is Talk. Putting what I am feeling into words that are spoken versus words that live in my head or written down, is a lot harder for me. In fact I would probably doodle a lot of pictures, before wanting to talk. Hence why it has took me awhile to write anything onto the blog, which has an audience and therefore almost like scary talking. I so wanted to make it past a year! A year without having to say that mumborg was ill again, just one year would have been great. I will find out late October time, what the plan of action is going to be. The specialist will probably have to try the suck it and see method, as there are a lot of things to take into consideration when it comes to the mumborg. For now she is doing okay and is her usual cheerful upbeat self. This is just another bump in the very bumpy road that the mumborg powers along in her electric wheelchair. I'm okay if she is.

Doodles
Let's talk about doodles, because they make me happy. In 2008 I doodled these doodles, illustrating a breast self exam and just the other week I had a few emails about whether people could use them. The old ones apparently appear a lot in google images and it is Breast Cancer awareness month soon, so seemed like a good time to do some new ones, as it is such a good cause! Please let me know if you, firstly like them and secondly want to use them, especially if you are writing about Breast Cancer awareness.

They can be found on their own page 'Breast Self Exam', please visit them and have read about other charity/awareness doodle type stuff. Here is a wee glimpse:

Art + Therapy = Art Therapy part 2

/climbs out of the chasm of doom......
/looks round sheepishly

Okay here is my explanation of what was going on in my head whilst I was doodling this: Just click the image to BIGGIFY and read Part One if you haven't already or need a refresher: Art + therapy =???

doodle
What was going on in my head the wordier version:
When I signed up to do the art workshop, I thought I would be much further along with catching up with all my assignments than I was. I knew there was going to be qualified therapists, trainee therapists etc at the workshop and was already feeling out of my depth. So when they said the first task was 'Draw how you are feeling right now' , my thoughts where:
  •  Use a pen, you can draw well with that!
  •  Ohhh white paper will look good
  •  God I hope they don't ask me about assignments or placements
  •  Urggh Assignments, that pile of doom haunting me
  •  Wow I feel like crap now, must add some clouds
  •  More rain!
  •  Oh dear it looks too sad now, I do have fun sometimes!
  •  Happy stuff?
  •  Erm doodling, gardening, the sun?
  •  Lets Emphasise the two areas, by drawing a line round the middle bit
  •  More rain!
Why do something like this:
By using my own doodle, I wanted to highlight just how much information you can get from a person, with a simple doodle. It opens up an avenue of conversation that you otherwise wouldn't have. There are no really wrong answers, just observations that may or may not lead the conversation somewhere. If you read the comments and/or left one in the previous post, you will see how much people saw in the doodle. I was quite honestly shocked that so many of you saw so much and were bloody spot on! Not just regular readers, but new readers left such thoughtful and thought provoking comments, that I can't thank you enough for taking the time to do that.

What now?
I have been at a crossroads for a while now, especially in regards to my studies and what to do next. I have not formulated a concrete plan of action yet, but I am closer to making some decisions! I have mentioned previously that I may retire this blog, but I am not going to do that. I know that was rather bloody cryptic, but I just wanted to say something and offer some explanation about why this blog has been so neglected as of late.

Doodle Stuff:
I have been doing a lot of stuff in the world of doodle, that I can't mention at the moment. Here is a sneak peak of something that I have been working on. As and when I can say more, I will! Honest.

Grammar Nazi:
I have a problem, a grammar problem. In an effort to improve the way that I write, I am trying to be more vigilant with grammar. One of the things I always seem to make a hash of, is the use to/too, but never two. I broke out in a grammar induced sweat, just writing those short sentences. I am not aiming for perfection, I like the stream of conciousness/ramble style of writing that seems to come naturally to me. Any tips on how to improve the editor within? At the moment I am using things like this to improve my inner homophone.

The feet are always watching or something

Greetings Earthlings and those just visiting, welcome to a weekly round up post of sorts.

Garden stuff
Carrots, beetroot, courgettes, potatoes, onions, radishes, lemon basil, raspberries and four types of lettuce are growing! I have also planted several containers with alpines in some and flowers of another sort in the rest (my brain just farted and have totally drew a blank on their names). Also have two huge bags of manure that has to decompose a bit more, before I can fling it around the garden. Then it is back off to the garden centre to purchase more plants! I might get round to taking some photographs next week, if the weather stays lovely and if I can be arsed.

Doodle and Thinking Stuff
The doodle at the start of this post was inspired by a new cartooning blog 'Therapy Tales'. Well it was this doodle in particular that set it in motion 'Eye Contact'. If you have ever been in therapy or actually in any situation where eye contact is awkward at best, then you can definitely get this cartoon. Pictures, well doodles, do say a million words.

As Therapy Tales is told from the perspective of the client in the therapist/client relationship, this got me thinking about my own 'Augghhhh' moments when it comes to myself donning the cap of 'therapist/counsellor'. It will mean the end of a lot of things, maybe even this blog, but also the start of a whole new adventure.

Click to BIGGIFY!

BUT before any of that happens, I am still fighting the good fight against this dude and by fight, I mean flapping a wet flannel in his general direction.
Click to Biggify
He is the......Procrastinating Poltergeist, my arch nemesis! One of the many beasts in my Mental Health Monsters Menagerie, along with the  Boggart..The lovely Mr James Clayton reawakened these beasts with his Haiku Beasts. These Mental Health Monsters are an ongoing project, mainly in my head at the moment, but something that I definitely want to develop further. It seems that people have really identify with them, whenever I have mentioned them previously, so I want to unleash more.

I rather enjoyed writing the Paradigm post and the comments that you left really added something to it. It was awesometriffic that you could follow what I meant, as I worry that what makes sense in my head, is never going to translate that well to the written (typed) word. I have already decided on what the next word will be and this doodle and blog is a clue of sorts.
Tumbling:
As you know I am a big twitter user (If you didn't, you do now), I have also added tumbling to my ever increasing web presence. My particular tumblr blog is called Other bits and pieces and I am using it as an bookmarker/idea dump. Instead of just gathering information for endless blogposts and never doing anything with it, the tumblr blog is there to keep up the momentum for when I have a mind bubble moment. Then I get to put all that mindbubbly stuff in a huge wiffly waffly post like this, hooray.

Get bloody on with it

This is blog is in semi hibernation mode as I get bloody on with stuff, mainly college assignments (Oh deja-vu moment.....)

Other news:
I have a beautiful new niece Arwen Elizabeth, she is two weeks old today.
Not seen the little munchkin yet, as she lives in Hamburg, Germany, with my sister and rest of their family. My younger nephew Connor was not happy that I stayed home to do bloody college work, whilst my parents went over to see the new baby. So the little bugger decided to stab me in the heart with this note, that he gave to the mumborg to pass onto me.

Dear Claire
Why did you stay at home?
Love you lots
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Connor
Wow that kid takes after me, emotional blackmail or what? I will have to kick his wee arse when I see him in May. Well by kick his arse, I probably mean photograph him to death and get him to chant 'Claire is awesome'.

Still doing photo a day thing, if you want to check out those HERE

I am still floating around in the blog aether, don't forget about me xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

PS: Listen to this, I love it:

Bang bang she is brain dead

Used previously in this post 'I am stuck'

For those that regularly read (hey guys), I had previously written about writing a post which dealt with my concerns/fears/thoughts about becoming a therapist. It was just a short paragraph at the end of this post 'Regardless of the mood, the sun still sets' which in turn had come about from this post 'The empty box and brick wall'.If you read those posts and the comments that go with them, which are invaluable to me, you will probably get a better idea of where my head is, at the moment.

The post title is from a combination of things, over thinking things to death and the incessant 'bang bang' of building work all sodding week! That was not helped matters at all.

Sometimes I feel like I am saying the same thing over and over again, the mental goo had its evil grasp upon me back when I first doodled the mental goo doodle and even though at times it felt like I was free from it, I think I was kidding myself.

If you can't stomach my self indulgent whingeing and waffle please gaze upon the pictures, but even they are mainly gloomy.

So as the sunsets on this week and a new one starts, I wonder what is in-store for me this week?

Tech News Alert
For those of you that read this blog and use blogger/blogspot yourself, you may be interested to know that you can now use 'pages' on blogger. I have converted my 'about me' into a page, as it was previously just a backdated post. To use this feature you must be logged into 'blogger in draft', which I have set as my default dashboard anyway. Let me know what you think of this and if you come up with any cool uses for it. For me personally it is just another reason not to move to wordpress.

The empty box and brick wall

Some days it feels like my head will explode with ideas for doodles, future client work, college assignments and blog posts. Other days it feels like there is nothing there but inconsequential Styrofoam bits of nothingness. I rummage round for signs of life, but just find dust. I have been looking at all my college notes and trying to get the rest of my work finished. I look back at the work and realised that I loved every minute of it, especially when writing up my own philosophy towards therapy and counselling.
Which can be found here (if you want to have a look).

So if I enjoyed every minute of college, what the hell am I waiting for!
Get bloody on with it!
Last year was pretty awful, nearly all of it was spent under exceptionally stressful circumstances, which culminated in the mumborg having her leg amputated. The mumborg is my mum, you can read about the operation here and all posts mum related are here. The operation went well, as well as these things can go and she is finally home.

Other times I feel like I am either running into or building too many of these.

During stressful times, walls are built and forcefields are set to maximum, just to get through the day. There was many a time last year, when I thought mum was going to die, although she assured me that would not be the case and to get on with my bloody work. So I would switch from being deathly worried to pissed off that she was still in hospital. Then I hopped back on the guilty train when they finally made the decision that the leg would have to go and this was a 'serious' operation. As I mentioned above, the operation went well, mum is doing great now. So finally I could relax, after months of worry, then I promptly got swine flu and have been ill ever since! So as the stress walls crumbled, so apparently did my immune system. So as one wall crumbles, I run head first into another.

The photographs are all part of my 365 photo a day project, they turned out pretty serendipitous don't you think? I didn't know what I was going to write, till I actually started writing. This page has been blank for most of the day, kind of like me.

It is hard work, this personal development lark. You open up yourself and see your own little world through shiny new eyes. It is inspiring, thoughtful and a whole feast of wonderful things, but the sun glares down on your new eyes at times and it all feels a bit raw. I suppose this could explain my new appreciation of music, I should emphasise that I mean 'good' music and with that, I am afraid blubbering occurs! Something about being in a certain melancholic mood and haunting vocals that now equate to me blubbering. To be honest, it is not sad crying, just going with the flow. All that tampering with ones empathy levels, has a strange effect, don't even mention sad puppy adverts or TV charity appeals or the ruddy news.

Never fear, I am never melancholic for long, not when you can put a donk on it.....

Please forgive me for this, but watch this youtube clip 'Put a donk on it'
(You need to watch that, well maybe not 'need').

/seconds later....

Did you watch the 'Donk' video? If so, I am sure you will never take me seriously again, which may have been an evil ploy, so that you don't think I have gone all soppy and melancholic. The Donkness also gives you a wee glimpse into the music of my 'youth' and how ones tastes change over the years.

From Donk to the Down-Tempo and everything in between.

My three thumbs UP of the week go to the music blog Slowcoustic, I first discovered this blog when my musical chum @Tartytart wrote a guest post over there, which inspired my snogging post. Since then I have been catching every musical tidbit that slowcoustic throws our way, it is treat to your ear lobes!

So now that I have waffled on, I am off to do battle with my Boggart.

Plot Bunnies, photographs and sunshine

First of all thanks for reading the rather long winded 'Three years and counting' post. Hands up if you just scrolled down to the comments? I know some of you buggers did..... heh.
(click to read definition of 'heh', as my offline folks don't usually have a clue).
Anyhoo it was nice to see folks from the past emerge and comment, I call those folks the 'oldies' and was pleasantly surprised to see new folks comment, those shall be the 'newbies'.

The Evil Plot Bunny
For some it is nanowrimo time once more, this is when some crazy folks crack out a novel in a month. All those that I know doing it, are what I would call writers. This leads me once more into the murky world of writing vs blogging. I am firmly entrenched in the ' I am a blogger' category, because quite frankly calling myself a writer feels utterly ridiculous. In saying that, I feel bad, I have spotted that light, I have followed it down a murky tunnel..... Yes I want to be a writer, I want to write a book and yes I hate myself for it. Alright I don't actually hate myself, but it does feel rather daft and grandiose.

I blame .............The Evil Plot Bunny, that furry creature that leaves droppings of ideas all over the place.

Miss Dorman inspired this doodle, so thanks a lot! (lol)

Mumborg News
The Mumborg should be released on Monday, if they get all the paperwork in order. She had a weekend visit and that went rather well, so huzzah and all that bollocks. It will be nice to finally get back to living and having some fun! For the Mumborg I mean. It has been bloody boring, well up until the removing of the leg part. Once she is all settled in and sorted, I will write a longer update.

Keep reading for more stuff and nonsense

The bogart in my brain

This is a wordy post for me; it may cause some people to faint in shock. Not at the content, just the fact that I wrote a long post.

I was perusing through the several million posts currently languishing in my Google reader. If you don't know what I am talking about, the Google reader is like a dream catcher for blogs or it's actually this Google Reader. Anyhow back to the stream of consciousness that I am currently riding on, whilst perusing I came across a post entitled The Better Bogart Within and thought Aha! That is exactly how I have been feeling lately, so I merrily clicked on it to read more.
Hold the phone! Wait a bloody minute! How could I have been so wrong, that is not the Bogart I have been looking for (lame sort of Star Wars joke). The post in question talks about Humphrey Bogart and I already know from my wee twitter experiment, that Bogart evokes images of Mr Bogart the famous actor. So when I read the word Bogart, what popped into my noggin?
Which is actually one of these: Boggart

Why did I identify with the Boggart in the first place?
In various children's books and films, the Boggart is something nice that turns into something rather nasty when you upset it, insult it, poke it and just generally piss off the bugger. Well after writing down my feelings of late, I feel like I have been a bit of a Boggart, more to the point I have been feeding mine.
My interpretation of a Boggart, let us call him/her H.Bogart (a nod to good old Humphrey), is that part of you that feeds on all the negative stuff happening around you, on a mostly subconscious level. I say mostly, because sometimes you are more than aware of the stuff that is impacting you negatively. Before you know it, you have manifested your very own Boggart on the brain. My kind of Boggart is not a mythical beast from folklore, but a more tangible beast that lives in my head. What and why have I been feeding this beast of mine?

What does my Boggart eat?
Stress is like a Chinese banquet for a family of six for my Boggart. That stress can be split into handy Boggart sized portions, covering every aspect of my life, from lack of sleep to worrying about a multitude of things. All of this equals one big fat hairy bloody Boggart and if this is all in your head, it can certainly weigh you down. How do you get your Boggart to weigh less? Put them on a ruddy diet! Easier said than done I hear you cry! I have tried diets and they suck monkey's balls. Well guess what? Effort goes into producing a fat hairy bloody Boggart, so effort is needed to lighten the load. Whether it is baby steps or monster steps, just looking in the right direction is a start. Heck thinking about looking in the right direction is a start.
Putting the Boggart on a Diet
Remember your Boggart may be lazy, anti-social and a bit stinky. Also getting him out of that mental closet will prove a tad difficult. Here are some pointers to getting rid of that Boggart mental flab hanging around.
Talk about it- Although you may still be hairy and look like a Boggart, with a bit a spit stuck in your whiskers from all that ranting and raving. I still recommend finding an ear to listen to you, whether that is friends, family, doctor or whatever trusted ear you chose.
Write about it- Not necessarily blog it like me, I am lucky to have this as an outlet. I do occasionally pick up a pen and write on paper! It is a revelation. The good thing about paper is that it burns and it is great at times to write whole load of brain spillage and then burn it. Careful the Boggart may try to eat the paper and crayons, they are funny like that.
Draw it out- Well obviously I love doodling and that works for me. Just think of how many other art forms there are to use and abuse in order to get some of that stuff out of your head. Remember the Boggart and their tendency to eat drawing materials.
Scream about it, Cry about it, Walk it out, Run it out, Swim it out, Dig it out (gardening not lobotomy), Dance it out, Blast it out (musically not explosives).

What do you feed your Boggart? Does it have a name?
Self awareness is the key to combating the inner Boggart; put him/her on a diet if you can. According to folklore the worst thing you can do is give a Boggart a name, but to that I say phooey!

Don't hate your Boggart; just don't ignore him/her either.
Negative things happen all the time, shit happens, the less polite of us will say. Don't kick yourself in the face when something bad happens, just try and minimise the damage that it does by talking things out, or whatever works for you (See Boggart Diet). If you haven't found anything that works, then try something new. I know, I know, easier said than done in some cases, but that mental shift has to happen to make any difference to your inner Boggart. For your inner Boggart, a lucky horseshoe aint going to do much at all in ridding you of your Boggart like feelings.

Final piece of Boggart Advice: Do not try and escape your Boggart by running away, he will follow you whether you go, unless dealt with correctly. A real Boggart will follow its family from abode to abode, but a mental Boggart lives in your head and you can't escape from yourself. That is not meant to sound all woe is me! Boggart battling may sound scary (or ridiculous), but the outcome is worthwhile.

In my Boggart research I came across this fantastic post and it seems I am not original at all when it comes to using the Boggart as a metaphor for those internal struggles:

Consider my post 'The idiots guide to Boggarts and their ritualistic feeding habits' and the above linked post as 'Boggarts for the Enlightened'. I kind of hate this person for already writing a Boggart post, especially a good one! Curses to them, but it was too good to pretend I hadn't read it and it deserves three thumbs up (Uh oh I am feeling a bit of a green eyed Boggart coming on, back beast, backkkkkkkkkkkkk).

Did this make any sense? If not, just ignore it and blame bloody Humphrey Bogart (What a twat).

What do counsellor's/therapists wear?

Hello chums, chaps, dudes, blokes, imaginary friends, not so imaginary ones and my dear readers. Welcome to yet another Claire wiffle waffle moment. It is just one of those days where random thoughts are being pondered and not a lot of sense is being made.
Yesterday I went to the local cancer support centre to see if I can do my volunteer counselling hours there for my counselling diploma. I wasn't feeling that nervous till it was time to go and then slight days of chunder feelings swooshed over me, but I got a grip of it and off I went.
The centre is a lovely place, as soon as you walk in it has such a nice vibe and it is run by lovely people. That is what I decided in the first few minutes anyways. It was an informal interview over a cup of coffee, were I was asked what models of counselling I would use, confidentiality issues, number of sessions, time available and all that fun stuff. I was also very happy to hear that they pay for my counselling supervision hours, which is great news for me! I didn't expect that at all. Expenses for travelling were offered also, but I shall be walking so wont need that. Then I got showed around the place, most importantly for me was seeing the listening room (counselling room).I got rather excited after having a look round and they seem happy to have me on-board with them. Just need to finish that college work stuff and get my references from college tutors, then away we go!

What does one wear?
When I left, I was left with one question buzzing around my noggin, what does one wear? As I have been a wretched student for some time now, my wardrobe accurately depicts this. So I have to have a think on what is suitable to wear for counselling?  I think the question in itself is interesting, as I myself have perceptions on what counsellors wear already, mainly because of my college tutors and classmates.

So as I was pondering, I did above doodle and twittered this question:

When you picture a counsellor/therapist, what did you picture them wearing? Anything in particular? Birthday suit is not a accepted answer .

Replies
@crpitt hrmmm I'll bite =D Brunette in form fitting suit, hair rolled up in a bun, glasses, with an innocent, but naughty look (via xight)
@crpitt I picture a female and wearing a semi professional skirt suit. Is that wrong? :) (via Cyran)
@crpitt that hot librarian look is good. Sorta demure but not. And not too much black (via yogachicky)
@crpitt I think what the counsellor should wear depends on who his or her clients are. Who are you going to be working with? (via cleiomao)
@crpitt Not sure how it is in the UK, but here, there are lots of muted, understated looks in the therapy field. (via Miragi)
@crpitt What we'd call "business casual" over here. No suits, but not too dress-down. (via Aerten)
@crpitt wear what u feel comfy in non restricting non showing of the breasts(important for female counsellors) nothing that distracts work (via Tao_of_Pooh)

Do counsellors that are paid versus counsellors that are volunteers wear different clothes? Does the type of client dictate what you 'should' wear? Does it matter to you?

Other stuff:
Mumborg is not behaving at all, yesterday she dislocated her hip/leg again! Just moving in her hospital bed. It is horrendously painful for her, I only know that because when she actually mentions something is painful, that means it is really painful. So she was nil by mouth most of the day, getting x-rayed and stuff, but they couldn't fit her into surgery till this morning.Which is not good for the mumborg, especially with the state of that leg already.
A hip dislocation is a true orthopaedic emergency in that the incidence of subsequent avascular necrosis of the femoral head is a time-dependent phenomenon becoming increasingly common if relocation is delayed beyond 6 hours.
The major major operation is scheduled for a week on Friday, with removal of everything bone and metal wise from the knee and up, to the hip area. That area will then be left 'floppy' i.e. no bones, till it is 100% infection free. Then they will see about reconstructing the leg, if that fails then the leg will have to go.

Briefly spotted

At the beginning of this course, in the middle of this course and towards the end of this course, I swore blind that I would not leave all my work to the last minute. I had great plans, timetables and to do lists to prevent a last minute rush to the finish line, my plans were in fact excellent.
So of course I ignored all common sense and have done what I always do, leave everything to the last bloody minute. The main thing that I did manage to keep to up to date with was this here blog, as a record of my personal development and journal entries. So in your own way, who ever actually reads this, you have made it into my counselling portfolio (lucky buggers).

If you haven't already, check out my counselling posts and in particular my presentation which highlights my journey to becoming a counsellor (therapist) : Personal philosphy on counselling

Over the next weeks I will mainly be rambling, swearing, yelling at the world via twitter @crpitt

Personal Philiosophy on Counselling (sort of)

Well hopefully this uploads okay, because I have wasted years of my life trying to post the fucker rather difficult thing.

It is my take on the Personal Philosophy assignment I was given in college. In which we were required to create a twenty minute presentation for our class group on our Personal Philosophy as it relates to counselling and counselling studies.

I hope it provides a insight into the internal process of my rambling mind, as I try to get to grips with various concepts and theories. It is also full of humour, doodles, analogies, metaphors and whatnots.

Please let me know what you think.

A year in review: March 2008

Marching along with these 2008 monthly reviews, next is March.
Marching along... See what I did there? Yeah it was stupid. Highlights of  March 2008 include flashbacks to meeting Princess Di (back of her head), Photography, drinking, evilness, smurfs, slang and much more..

Thrill of my life so far (or not)
Lets go back, way way back, no not that far. This is a post about wee me, as in me as a child, I was one once. It has chimpanzee's and a real meeting with the person formerly known as Princess Diana. I know the mere mention of Princess Diana, will have some folks flocking that post and other running away. Its worth a look just to see tiny me.

Mill buildings from hike two
Some really cool photographs of a mill building, which was actually a mine building.  I was intrigued so I did a little bit more research on them.

Libraries make me sleepy
I love books and I love reading, but when in the library I just get sleepy and giggly. This is not good when you are trying to study.

I am not nice
I have struggled with the word nice for a long time, I mean who wants to be nice? The real question is what is wrong with being nice?

I got smurfed
An evil blogger by the name of Ender smurfed me, which means she used a photo of me and turned me into a smurf. It's horrific and I bloody hate the smurfs.

Mad hailstones
Always wanted to glimpse into my bedroom? Well now you can see some freakishly haily hailstones from my bedroom window, exciting! (or not).

My hairy Beaver
My Hairy Beaver, need any more info than that?

Coming to America
Twas the first post I made about my USA trip that coming September, I was so excited I interviewed myself.

Happy St Patricks Day
I shall always love this day in March, as it reminds me of my Granddad Pat who was Irish, really Irish as in from Dublin. I also happen to love Guinness, so happy days.

The Truffle Shuffle Incident
In the January review post I revealed that I was an uber dork, the Truffle Shuffle incident is more proof to that affect. This then led to a discussion about what a 'Truffle Shuffle' was, I hope you know? Or at least remebered from the first time I posted it.

Devils Kitchen
Like the name implies this was a devilish place to hike, the weather was a bit iffy but it was still beautiful. The video and accompanying music really add to the spooky factor in this post. Also Willy got a bit excited by the sight of snow, as its the only snow he has ever seen.

Favourite photos of this month
These two shots definitely show off the rugged beauty that is North Wales, I hope you like them as much as I do. I so want a better camera, maybe next year!

British Slang
Eh up me china plates, I love British Slang. Partly because I am British and partly because I love confusing the pants off people. So this post was a lead to a guest post I did on Bristish Speak. Go on you slags and wankers have a butchers at it.

Finally where I blog from
Ever wanted to see blog central? As in the place I blog from the majority of the time. It may look tidy in that post, but at the moment its a holy show!

Time stands still for no man, woman or blogger.

I dyed the other day... Now I am Snow White.

This was my before I am dyeing my hair shot, I look suitably terrified/goofy/daft. Hair dyed a little too well and is now dark brown, instead of medium brown. Its weird not not having red hair, as I have been dyeing it the many shades of red for the past twelve years. I have no clue what my natural hair colour is or would be, apart from the horror of the odd grey hair. The women folk in my family went grey early, well those of us with darker hair shades. The sisters and the mum have been spared this because they are all blonde, I am the literal black (well brown) sheep of the family, baaa. I must of subconciously decided to emulate Snow White, as I already have skin thats white as snow, now I have the ebony (sort of) hair. All I need now is to whack on a bit of lippy, to have lips as red as blood. What about the outfit? Well for those that know me well, know that I do indeed prance around the house wearing a red headband.

It turns out Snow White had a sister called Rose Red, which you can read about here:
I will be coming back to this tale, as it intrigued me a lot.

Reminderfox is annoying the tits off me, but there is some small satisfaction in crossing some things off 'the list'. Maybe by the new year I will have crossed off a ton of stuff.

Doodle Week Starts Tomorrow! Get your doodle on.

PS: Funniest comment from yesterday was on a old post which I had updated recently because of its popularity with google. I thought I was still number three for 'Golden Cock' but now I am number two. Thank you anonymous for letting me know.
This is the post : My Golden Cock

Bloody builders

Builders have behaved themselves today, so my homicidal urges have been kept at bay for the moment. I wonder when they will finish for Christmas and will the new owners just continue where they left off? That will really piss me off, a lot!
Hopefully they give it a bloody rest, otherwise I will start thinking like this again....

Bloody Builders

Yes I know they are just doing their job, but I don't have to like it!
Anyhoo I have got to get on with being all festive now, in-between all the college work I have to do! Tis the season and all that bollocks.

The grump is over the hump... sort of

I have been a little grumpy the last couple of days(,weeks, months, years)and I have decided that I am over that hump. Hump is a funny word, just say it a few times, hump, hump, humpity hump. Not out loud! You will lose your job/self respect if anyone hears you, sheesh, some people. When your in an emotional slump that is known as a 'hump', that hump in facts seems like a bloody large mountain.

So about that list......

Well 'things' conspired against me and my list! The 'things' mainly being lack of sleep and shitty bloody migraines. At the moment I just want to head butt the computer and then sleep for a thousand years.
Builders are not dead, it was close, but the rain finally got rid of them on Friday. Unfortunately the new neighbours are now on the death list. As they decided to carry on the build work over this weekend, ALL weekend! I thought I had lost track of what day it was, when I heard the walls getting bashed. Alas my chocolate advent calendar was not messing with me. It was the weekend and they fucking ruined it! Not that I am bitter over it, not at bloody all.
Some good news, I actually did all the washing that needed doing. Alas I can't do any more, as washing machine totally floods the kitchen now. It was only mini floods before, so hopefully I don't run out of pants before it gets sorted. So I really need to call plumber now, because of aforementioned washing machine bollocks and possible lack of pants.
I have added this little widget thing to my internet browser to torture myself with, its called reminderfox. You add it to your firefox browser and then input all the things you need/want to be reminded of. Its like having a nagging mother installed into your internet browser and also probably the reason i want to headbutt the computer. Its actually useful and easy to use.Whether I do the things it keeps reminding me to do, is another matter. I was going to list all the things that I have put in it, but that would be bloody boring to read (also depressing for me).

To Do List .............

Recovering from the flu has its downfalls, sure you can see out of both eyes, regain the feelings back in your face (migraine related), stop sneezing snot all over the place (especially computer monitor). What are the downfalls then? With that clear vision you can see the humongous pile of stuff that you have to do and with the face in working order, you can howl at the moon (the neighbours don't like it) and see that snot on the monitor. As the mind clears from its flu ridden fog like haze, you realise its nearly bloody Christmas and you have done fuck all! My sleep pattern is even more fucked up than it was before the dreaded lurgy and the house next door is getting extended, so the builders are making lots of noise!

My muse of late is Yoga for Cynics.  Not sure if blokes can be muses? Any how, anyone that writes something that inspires me to do or think something, is a muse in my book. His latest post on procrastination is a subject that I was discussing in college with my tutor this Monday just gone. Its a subject I will be coming back, hahahahaha! Honest.
After college tonight I am writing the real 'To Do List' so look out for a list of epic proportions!

Who Am I? The beginning

For the final project of my counselling diploma, we have been asked to do a reflective piece. It is entitled 'Who Am I?,how about that for an daunting title, yikes! Although its the final project, it has been worked on since the beginning of the diploma (supposedly).

What are we expected to do?
You are required to design a project over the duration of the two year Diploma in Counselling course entitled "Who Am I?".

You are encouraged to be as creative as you wish in designing this project.
You may use photographs, films, recordings etc.

You are expected to examine and reflect on the following points as part of your project:

An awareness of your own self-knowledge of your patterns of behaviour and thought processes and feelings.

Effects of history/background on present behaviour and thought processes and feelings.

An understanding of development of 'self', Identity and self concept.

Evaluation of your own reactions on the therapeutic relationship

Own responses and perceptions of client: behaviours, words. thoughts, feelings, body language etc.

Self - analysis of own needs and their effects on the counselling relationship.
How are we going to do this?
In College: Group Work, Individual Work and Personal Development Groups.
External: Journal, Reading, Other Personal/Professional Development Activities.

I have been collecting all sorts of tidbits to go into this project, but I really need to crack on and get a proper idea of how I want it to flow. The good thing is, that this here blog is a big part of my 'Who Am I' project, which is pretty fortunate for me. I have looked into how to make this project look good and have found a pretty nifty 'turn blog to book' site called Blurb. You just download the book writing/making software and get cracking. The prices seem reasonable and because its such a special project I don't mind forking out extra to make it look really cool. Not that I will be using all the blog for the project, but a fair chunk of it will at least inspire some of its final content. I will be posting a lot of the 'project' on this blog, not all of it, as some will be too personal and other stuff would breach client confidentiality.

I am a clumsy fucker

Now that I am nearly back to my usual sunny disposition, I thought I would enlighten you on certain aspects of me. I see a lot of these "pick three words to describe you thingys" going around. I couldn't/wouldn't attempt to do that, as I think nearly every descriptive word can be applied to yourself at one point in time. Its just that certain words resonate louder for longer amounts of time. So I thought I would do them word by word, whenever I feel like it. One that has haunted me from childhood is Clumsy! Note I use the word haunted, by jove this word has fucking haunted me!

Yes, yes, I know its hard to believe, but I am a severe danger to myself. I have long given up the idea that I can actually walk through walls and doors, unfortunately I haven't given up the habit of walking into them. At the moment I have two stubbed big toes, a scabby elbow (hit hard on door frame) and a bruise on other arm from an unprovoked door attack. Not to mention the twice tripping over of cables and nearly ripping modem out of socket. That's just from the past few days, funny aint it? (No!).

I was constantly reminded as a child that I was a clumsy sod, with lots of 'watch out!' being hurled at me. If anyone is going to stand on dog shit today it will be Claire and of course it was.
Recent quote off the mum "Well you were accident prone". Gee thanks mum, now looking back at it, I think I had some form of dyspraxia.

How do I manage to survive in this world with so many dangers all around me? Fuck knows!
Examples of recent buffoonery:
Was walking along with friend, just a normal flat pavement, no hazards, seconds later.
Friend: Claire why are you on the floor?
Me: I fucking fell over!
Friend: I know, I saw you. But theres nothing to fall over.
Me: /sigh I know, it must be my ankles or something....
Friend: Need a hand getting up?
Me: Fuck off! I mean no....thanks.

As I am so clumsy, that means team sports are out of the question. Why is that? Because I am more likely to catch a ball with my face, than I am with my hands (yes that has happened, several times). So hiking is a perfectly acceptable 'sport' for me, well apart from the tripping hazards and possible falling off mountains to my death. If anyone is going to fall over whilst out hiking, guess who it is?

Picture this, I am jogging along  and catch up with mates who have hiked on a bit ahead:
Friend:What took you so long? Taking bloody photos again?
Me: Ermmm yes!
Friend: Why are you covered in mud? Are your pants ripped too?
Me: /whistles.
Friend: You fell over again, didn't you?
Me: Hahahaha no.
Friend: You did! ahahahahaha.
Me. Piss off!

Hiking is still worth it, even for a clumsy fucker like me: Check out the pictures! Hiking Posts.
So there you go, now you know that I am a right clumsy sod.
